About Us

Overview

Iowa Head Start and Early Head Start programs offer a variety of service models, depending on the local needs of the community. Many programs are based in centers and schools, while some are offered in state registered childcare centers and family childcare homes. Home-based services are also an option in some programs with weekly visits to children in their own home.
Studies have shown that providing a strong educational foundation for children improve their future health, employment and educational outcomes throughout their life. Head Start recognizes parents as their child’s lifelong educators and we encourage parents to engage in their child’s education.
