This full-time, benefits-eligible position supports our teachers and children in daily classroom activities. Be prepared to travel to multiple sites across a six-county service area with the benefit of either mileage reimbursement or the use of a company vehicle, depending on availability. Maintain flexibility for adjusting to different classroom settings. Assist the classroom staff in planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate, nurturing, and supportive early childhood program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Support various teachers by filling in for absences or as an additional staff member in the classroom.

·       Occasionally conduct instruction by following lesson plans while adapting plans to meet students’ individual learning style and providing inclusion for all.

·       Demonstrate knowledge of, and implement, developmentally and culturally appropriate practices of early childhood.

·       Promote successful classroom performance for each student.

·       Encourage each child to develop a positive self-concept and support that self-concept with proper positive guidance and discipline techniques.

·       Must be punctual, dependable, and flexible in meeting work schedule and hours with ability to adapt to change.

·       Promote positive public relations and serve as an advocate for MATURA.

·       Perform daily classroom expectations with minimal guidance.

·       Attend required job-related meetings and trainings.

·       Keep the classroom workspace neat, orderly and free of clutter.

·       Build relationships with children, families, and staff that follow our program’s curriculum and Head Start Program Performance Standards.

·       Report all suspected child abuse/neglect as mandated.

·       Complete duties that are assigned within a requested timeframe.

·       Assist in implementing classroom management strategies to provide a safe, nurturing environment so all children can succeed.

·       Maintain a constant watch over the children entrusted in your care and always be aware of their location.

·       Assist staff with documentation and observation of children while ensuring confidentiality of all documents maintained in the department.

·       Provide assistance to children during their daily bathroom routine by offering direction and support when needed, including the changing of diapers and pull-ups.

·       Ensure that all classroom and outdoor activities follow all health and safety procedures.

·       Participate in snack/meal activities by assisting staff with serving food, eating with children, and cleaning up after meals.

·       Supervise children in non-classroom settings such as indoor large motor activities, playground, outings away from the classroom, arrival and dismissal with families, etc.

·       When going into the classroom to sub for any education staff, you will assume the same responsibilities as a teacher associate unless assigned in a long-term position.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

•       Ability to multitask with a strong attention to detail.

•       Must believe in a team approach and handle every job duty with a strong work ethic.

•       Daily attendance and punctuality are essential.

•       Must be timely and accurate when performing job duties.

•       Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or verbal form.

•       Ability to utilize basic computer programs and word-processing applications.

•       Must be reasonably familiar with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, email, and other programs used within the agency.

•       Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
