“Know Your Rights”: An IMMJ Training
Presented by Tom Rendon
Many Head Start families are feeling some anxiety related to potential upcoming changes around immigration and undocumented residents. There are many unknowns as to what changes might take place or what the impact will be for those living in Iowa.
As a first step to support these families, Iowa Migrant Movement for Justice has developed a basic training that explains the rights all residents have–regardless of immigration status–and provides suggestions that may improve the outcome of any encounter with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Iowa MMJ is a statewide immigrants’ rights and immigration legal service organization working to build a more welcoming and inclusive Iowa.
IHSA is offering a brief one-hour training that will expand your knowledge of basic rights and recommended practices for family service workers, teachers, home based workers and other staff in Head Start so they can better support families who may worry about the future. The training includes recommendations for a family safety plan and information about additional resources available through IMMJ. Join us for this free training.
